Ever wish someone would literally shadow you or a co-worker in their role for a day and be like, “ok, so what are you doing and why are you doing that? And have you ever thought about doing this?” I watched a video with Shaan, who is joined by Steph Smith, discussing this great topic. The video reminded me that most of my clients now have in place some level of automation engineer working on making their marketing systems talk, but what if that role were to grow into a full-time job?
Steph goes on to dig into what that would look like, ‘We already have data scientists inside companies that say look we’re gonna dig through all this data, we’re gonna organize it, we’re gonna get analysis and insights, and we’re gonna hand those to the execs of all that run all these different functions. With this data now, you can do your job better.
There will be an automation engineer in the future, and the automation engineer might say, hey, we’re not digging through data; we’re digging through the processes. We dig through processes, and we’re gonna find repetitive / jiangkey processes that are sucking up time that are causing failures and errors and mistakes. This thing you’re doing manually that you set a reminder to do every night at 11 PM that can be automated or whatever, right, this thing that you’re writing this report every day for your boss that can be as a Zapier command and update the data automatically.’
